Planning a Vacation? Here’s how to Save Money

Vacations are a great way to relax, learn about a new culture, travel to a destination that you’ve never been to, and recharge after working hard.

If you’re hoping to save money on your next vacation, there are a few things you can do to keep more cash in your pocket. As soon as you know that you can get the time off work, begin planning so you can book ASAP. This is particularly important for flights.

When it comes to booking your flights, it’s useful to know that there are a bunch of different fare classes. That’s not economy, first and business class, but the price points for each ticket. The airline may release 10 fares in S class, which would cost $200 each, and once they’re all sold out, the next class to be released is T class, and these fares are $300 each.

As you can see, booking early will mean that you get one of the cheaper fare classes, while booking late will ensure that all of the cheaper fares are sold out, which is why flights are so expensive when you book last-minute.

Another great idea is to use Apple Vacations. There are a bunch of different vacations available, and they can include every aspect of your trip- from flights to hotels, packaged together so that you get a great deal. Groupon Coupons are now available, and you can save up to 50% on your vacation if you book soon, which could mean a lovely, inexpensive vacation for the whole family.

There are also a lot of apps available which can make travel both easier and cost-effective. Uber can allow you to get around different cities and save a lot of money when compared to using a taxi, Spotted By Locals is a great way to learn about fun things to do and good places to eat in a new city, and Gate Guru is another great app that will let you know the best places to eat and things to do in a variety of airports.

One of the most expensive aspects of travelling is constantly buying food, especially if you’re travelling with kids. For this reason, it can be a good idea to scope out a grocery store as soon as you arrive, and pick up some snacks like cereal, snack bars, fruit, peanut butter and bread, so you can at least have a few snacks and breakfast handled each day.

In Europe, you’ll want to spend some time exploring the markets anyway- who can pass up cheese and bread in Paris, after all?

The more money you save while booking your vacation, the more money you have to spend on fun activities while you’re away. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars more because you booked your flights too late, you could take a tour, go bungy jumping, see sunrise from a hot air balloon, or simply have more money to stay for longer.
