Well, winter is nearly here, and the tourist season in Whistler, Canada is about to unfold with its full glory. Although popular among tourists throughout the year, this beautiful ski-resort town sees its highest share of visitors during the winter months. People from all over the world flock over to this magnificent town, book one of the Whistler house rentals and enjoy skiing and snowboarding down the two majestic mountains of the region, Whistler and Blackcomb.

But what happens if you don’t like skiing or snowboarding?!

Well, don’t you worry for a second there. Being a ski-resort town, Whistler may give out the impression that skiing and snowboarding are the only activities to enjoy during the winters. But trust me, there are a lot more to winter Whistler than just these. So if you get bored with sliding down the snowy mountains a bit too easily, or maybe don’t know how to ski or snowboard, you will still have plenty of things to enjoy during your winter vacation. To get you started, here are five of such activities which you must try out during your trip to Whistler.

Go Snowmobiling

So what if you cannot ski or snowboard? You can still feel the pleasure of speeding through the snow if you go snowmobiling during your trip. And if you are an experienced skier, even then you need to try this out. The experience is completely different, and you get to explore the backcountry on your snowmobile. Wing your way through the old growth trees, and discover hidden new places to spend your day.

Go on Zipline Tour

Ziplining is a really popular all year round activity in Whistler, and you must not miss it when you visit this beautiful region during your trip to Canada. Zipline through the treetops while enjoying the breathtaking views of the snowclad surroundings. The zip line rides are quite thrilling too, as you reach a top speed of about 70 kilometres per hour, as you zip line over the old growth trees.

Ride the Peak 2 Peak Gondola

Another crowd-favourite activity in Whistler is the famous Peak 2 Peak Gondola ride. The ride itself has won many awards over the years, and you can truly experience an unparalleled view of the snowclad mountains when you take a ride on this. The gondola trip joins the two peaks of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. The whole ride takes only eleven minutes to finish, and the panoramic views that you get to see make this ride a must do activity during your vacation.

Go for a Helicopter Tour

Going on a helicopter tour is one of the most exhilarating ways to experience the true beauty of snowclad Whistler. Soar over the tree-lined mountains, and experience the brilliant views of the valley down below. You can also go on a Rainbow Mountain Tour, where you will be able to fly to the top of Rainbow Mountain and land on the top of its peak.

Enjoy with the Locals, like the Locals

Winter time is the time for festivals among the Whistler locals. So head over to one of the festivals and join the various activities that the locals enjoy doing. Gates Lake is one of the most popular places where locals spend their time and there are a lot of weekend festivals which take place here. The lake gets completely frozen during the winter. You can take part in a hockey game, enjoy ice-fishing and spend some beautiful tike soaking in the local culture.
